Fake collections bills from Afni Collections
|
Fake collections bills from Afni Collections Afni Collections at afnicollections.com has sent me several bogus collections letters from a Verizon bill that I paid off over 3 years ago. The scary thing is that it is the actual amount that I owed, so I really thought it was true. Until I contacted the company by telephone and received a message stating that they 'are no longer accepting calls due to a high call volume' and that I should 'visit their website'. On their website, after entering in my 'account number' it directs me to immediately send payment. I knew it was a fake. Now, a month later, I received another bogus letter from Afni and decided to try to contact them once again. To my surprise, I was actually able to reach someone, who told me his name was 'Bill Gaphney'. He wouldn't answer when I kept asking him to explain whether or not they were a legitimate collections agency or a fake/fraud. Then, he actually told me it would be 'a good idea' for me to contact the authorities! DO NOT BE FOOLED, THEY WANT YOU TO SEND YOUR MONEY AND NOT THINK TWICE.
