24 Hour Fitness/ Horrible Experience in Houston

24 Hour Fitness/ Horrible Experience in Houston I live in Houston, TX and joined the 24 hour fitness in Jacinto City in July of 2006. I signed up online, paying $159.80 for a 3 month membership. I then was contacted by management to come in and get a full membership with no contract, which they set up to be charged to my debit card every month. I lost my debit card, and once I called to give them my new credit card information, I was surprised to know that I owed the gym not only for the current month (October) but for some strange reason, I owed $159.80 on top of that. I spoke to someone in customer service who told me I needed to show proof that I paid the $159.80. The only thing they would validate was "the original sales receipt", when my bank statement clearly showed that EXACT amount was debited from my account on July 31, 2006. The manager wouldn't return my calls, customer service would not acknowledge my bank statement, and I was pissed off when the next call I got was from a collection agency. It was the collection agency that resolved the issue, but it still pissed me off because it is acknowledged on my credit report. BS if I ever saw it. I will never ever ever ever step foot into a 24 hour fitness again. It totally locks you in and charges you to leave, its more restrictive then renting and apartment!!
