AOL AOL is the devil! I called to cancel the service, and after MANY minutes on hold, I was assured that my service was terminated, effective immediately. I checked my statement the next month and there were no charges. I naively thought that was the end of it, but three months after I cancelled there was a huge charge! Quickly doing the math, I realized that they had charged me for the three months since I had called. Coincidence? I don't think so! I'm sure they were hoping I wouldn't notice, especially since they skipped a couple of months. I called AOL and they rudely claimed I never called them the first time....until I told them my confirmation number. The tone of call quickly changed, and after asking me several times to reconsider my decision, they once again terminated my account. I vigilantly watched my credit card for the next four months and finally was able to breathe a sigh of relief. Kristen W.
