Z Auto Sound - San Jose, CA XM receiver So I was recently at Z auto Sound because I had just purchased a new pioneer head unit from a local electronics store, and for some reason it wasn't working with my XM receiver. So I decided I better go see the professionals at a car audio place. I found myself at Z auto Sound. One of the guys checked out my problem and said that it's very simple. "just reverse the cable" give me $30 and I'll get it working for you. Great! SO I'm waiting around for like 30 minutes, and the guy comes up to me and says that it still isn't working and that I need a new XM receiver because the one I have now is incompatible. Ok, fine, what does a new one run for? It will be $200 he says. Ok fine. So they install it and when he goes to ring me up he charges me $250. I ask him why $250? He says "installation charges" I was a little mad because all they did was pop a new unit into the old ones space. They even used the same power connection and everything. But like a sucker I paid it. another hour and a half goes by, the car is finally done. It works fine, and the sales man makes a derogatory statement that it would sound much better if I didn't just have a $300 amp. Anyway, I get home and I find out that the XM unit retails for $115!!!!!! direct from pioneer as well as many other websites. Also the unit comes with it's own antenna, and power harness, both of which Z auto kept for themselves because they just used my old ones that were already in place. I confronted them the next day, and they just lied through their teeth saying that the receiver comes with nothing. I went pack to pioneers website to verify my accusations again, and yes they do come with everything. Z auto sound kept them. They also kept the keys for my head unit so that I am not able to take it out myself. Bad business, and horrible prices, as well as cocky sales people. NEVER GO HERE. Unless you enjoy throwing money away. I spent a grant total of $330 on a $115 part and a $30 install MAX.
