Maytag washer SAV515DAWW

Maytag washer SAV515DAWW

I purchased this washing machine from Home Depot for 499.00 on 12/03. On 2/07 it started leaking. The transmission and seal under the tub went out . The unit has been very noisy for about a 2 years. The transmission has a 10 year warranty. Even though the trans is under warranty, the repairman stated that Maytag has had a lot of problems with this unit. He knew what was wrong with it before he even came out. He said thee repair would be 250.00 or more, even though the trans was warranteed do to the price of the seal. So much for the boring life of the Maytag man. I bought a new machine. I will never buy a Maytag product again. My best luck has been with Whirlpool products.

i was given a Sears apt size washer you hook up to a sink faucet about 19 years ago, the womans uncle died and she was tossing it in the garbage. that machine lasted me 12 years, at 9 years we had replaced the pump, my hubby is mechanically inclined. since his boss gave us a used washer that lasted 5 years from a house they were gutting and redoing. that went and we bought this SAV515DAWW model Maytag washer for $499.99, less a $30 scratch fee in our favor, so no warrenty was given. that was just 4 years ago. all my other used washers lasted beyond that. needless to say, a new washer for almost $500 is now scrap metal unless my husband can get the F$*(@^ machine apart and replace that stupid boot. anyway, better off to look for washers at the curb at high end neighborhoods, or scraping the model! Maytag, your assemblers and product control people are taking ya to the BANK and those repair men ARE ON AN EXTENDED VACATION!!! we will keep all ya readers updated on our progress on OUR repair of this model of the MAYTAG WASHER.

I also have or should say had a Maytag

SAV5710AWW. the repair man said it would cost $883.89 to fix with all the parts. same problem with trans., water leaking. he also said the outer tub needed replacement. I paid the service fee and decided to buy a new machine. Only cost $549. new, why would I spend that kind of money on something a few years old. At two years, a hose underneath wore a hole because it wasn't properly secured and rubbed against metal. Orginal purchase was 03/2004 just replaced in 04/2008. I sent a complaint to maytag. Since Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool, they offered me a very, very, very small refund on purchase price if I bought a Maytag or Whirlpool product. (barely covered the service call cost.)I went with Whirlpool - my last make machine -

They said there were no recalls. I am very surprised.

I have the same washer purchased in 03/04, also from Home Depot. Luckily, I purchased the extended warranty from Home Depot for 5 years. The first time it broke down it was less than a year of its purchase, it started to leak everywhere, luckily it was in the garage. We moved in 2006 and my hook ups are now in the kitchen, THIS IS MACHINE MAKES SO MUCH NOISE. IT SOUNDS LIKE A PLANE LANDING. I HATE IT! It now broken again 09/27/07. The repair person came over and said it needs a new motor and a new drain pump. Its now 10/22/07 and the machine is still down. On 10/10/07 the parts were on order. On 10/15/07 one part came in and the guy accidentaly told me that the motor was discontinued. And then he change it to the part is still on back order from his supplier. Now if they really did discontinue the part, I wish they would tell me upfront, so I can take further action with Home Depot to get this machine replaced. Yea, so much for the Maytag guy. When we first purchased the washer, we thought that we are getting a reliable, long lasting and durable machine.

Like F.L. Maytag once said "never let the company forget its responsibility to deliver quality machines to the public." As always, Maytag continues its relentless pursuit to build the highest-quality and most dependable machines for you, our customer.

NOW, THAT A MOTTO THAT MY MACHINE SHOULD OF LIVED BY.
