lithia dodge eugene

I was out looking for a truck one day and came by the Lithia dodge of Eugene lot. The salespeople were very helpful at first. After going to 4 different Lithia lots in Eugene, I found a truck I wanted. The back bumper was somewhat bowed, but the salespeople assured me that the vehicle had never been in a wreck, I trusted them. A week after I bought it, a friend of mine looked at the truck and told me it had definitely been wrecked. When I contacted the dealership, they refused to talk to me. I sent e-mails and called, left voice messages, they never called back. I would never never recommend buying from Lithia.

I too had a similar problem with Lithia Dodge of Eugene.

We purchased a "BRAND NEW" '02 Dodge Neon. Our sales person was excellent! It was the firt car we had ever purchased and he stayed late into the evening going over the paperwork, making sure everything made sense. After signing, he got in the car with us and went over all the controls, went over doing maintanence, etc.

A couple of weeks later my Father was checking out my new car and found a broken piece of plastic, lodged down low in some wires, that appeared to be a bracket that holds the light in. He called Lithia and they asked him to bring the piece in..they didn't know what it was.

Our sales person had the day off, but we spoke to annother sales person who told us sometimes things get broken in shipping and they have to replace them. This made sense to us, so we accepted the explanation.

About a year after I had had the car, I started having troubles. The transmission started leaking, the third time it started leaking it ruined the clutch and it had to be replaced. For some reason they couldn't get the transmission to seal properly. This was all under warranty, but I was getting tired of being without my car. I looked into the Limen Law. It required paperwork showing the repeated problem. I asked for a printout of everything that had ever been done to the car. I found that about $1800 in damages had been repaired to the front right side of the car. The same side my Father had found the broken piece of plastic.

My car was in the shop a multiple more times, once for a fried wireing harnes, the rest for the transmission. Everything was fine for about 3500-4000 miles, then it would start leaking again. Eventually I was past my warranty and the clutch went out. First they tried to charge me for it because clutches are user errors and not covered under the powertrain warranty. That made me mad because I had proof that it was a repeat problem that THEY had not fixed. Finally they agreed to cover it, but when they test drove it, said the clutch was not slipping.

I was so sick of dealing with them(just writing this makes upsets me and makes me shake), I just wanted them to fix my car. Note: Everytime I took the car in and told them what was wrong they wouldn't beleive me, my Father had to call or take the car in to get any of the repairs made. My car had been in the shop so many times that we were no longer working witht the people at the front, but with the manager. I asked him if he wasn't going to fix my car, could he atleast explain the $1800 in repairs made before I purchased it and why I wasn't told about them. He immediately offered me a great deal on a new car: $3000 off MSRP!!! I refused and he wanted to know what would make me happy. I would have been happy with them fixing my car for free as long as I had it for anything that went wrong. My dad wasn't ok with that because of the cars past history and me moving an hour and a half away in two months. He didn't want me dealing with car issues that far away. Anyway, they still refused to admit that the clutch was slipping, and would not fix my car.

I got mad, called Lithia and asked to speak to the sales manager. I asked him what happens when a car is purchased "BRAND NEW" and the buyer is not told it has been wrecked. He proceeded to tell me that they can not be sold as new when over $1300 in repairs have been made and that it must be disclosed to the buyer at the time of purchase. He asked if this had happend to me and I told him it had. He immediately gave me the number to the manager of all the Lithias in the North West.

Within two days the dealership had bought my car back for the purchase price, and I was told the car would go to a buyer beware auction after it was fixed (I was assured that the service department WOULD be fixing the car...he was not happy with the way they had handled the situation.) So I used a car, and dealt with it being in the shop every few thousand miles that I owned it for three years. We had put a spoiler on it and some fancy tires and wheels, which I did not get money back for..but it turned out ok in the end. I ended up finding an 03 Ford Focus with only 14000 miles on it, with power locks, windows and mirrors, and wheels for the same price. The Focus has a few problems, the intermittant wipers like to go up, down and back up to the middle of the windshield, and one of the back windows only rolls down 2 inches. Oh, and sometimes the trunk doesn't latch. I have had no mechanical problems, and I have a better car with more accessories and fewer miles. I have learned alot with my Neon experience. Always ask for a printout of everything that has EVER been done to the car, especially if you're buying a new car. Also, if something goes wrong with the car, keep a log with dates, times and who you spoke to for each incident, and ALWAYS have a MAN take the car to be serviced because they dont take women seriously. And most importantly do not buy from LITHIA DODGE OF EUGENE ( beleive they are now Diamler Chrystler of Eugene.)

OH!!! I almost forgot, I was driving buy a couple of weeks after they bought my car back and I saw it sitting on the lot...I know it was mine because it had my custom spoiler and wheels! So if anyone is out there driving a maroon 02 Dodge Neon with a spoiler that no one else has and American Racing wheels, I'd be happy to give you the records on the car...and good luck with it, I'm glad to be rid of it! It was a cute car though!
