Property Management Complaint ny,ny Hello, My name is Jacqueline Mancusi and I wanted to document a complaint about a local business here in New York City by the name of Bushburg Properties, www.loftfinders.com located at 385 Troutman street, Brooklyn NY 11237. This particular company I signed a 1 year rental- lease with from 2/06-2/07, with my boyfriend/roommate. Both the advertisement for the apartment and the website states dogs/pets are allowed, which was the main reason we decided to move in. A woman by the name of Leah who manages their buildings had some complaints about our dogs barking about 7 months into our lease. Of course we were very concerned and tried different things to help keep the dogs calm but both of us working long hours in the city and not being home for 12 hours at a time it was difficult. The problem was only present when we were both not home. Leah made it clear she would not renew our lease once it was through in 2/07- we were fine with that. The following month (12/06) Leah asked us to vacate early, under the condition that we would have NO penalty. Even more specifically we would receive our rent prorated for the month we had already paid but would not be staying through. (Thus we would be receiving $1800 security deposit back and $900 prorated rent = $2700.00) It was after we made these accommodations on behalf of Leah’s wishes and after she agreed verbally is where the problem started. Weeks go by after she said our check would go out by the end of 12/06. Every week she gives us a different story, “checks are ready just need to be signed”, “wait the clearance on the apartment inspection isn’t complete”, etc. etc.. After several weeks Leah tells us they want to re-sand the floors for $700 b/c our dogs supposedly ruined them.( I requested a receipt for that service and never received one). So weeks go by after the $700 is taken out of our security deposit and still no answers and Leah does not return phone calls. I keep calling and we get word that Leah “doesn’t remember telling us that she would prorate our rent” and they plan on sending us a check for $900 instead of the original $2700. She was of no help to us after that, her apparent boss Joseph got involved and he didn’t know a thing of what she had agreed with us- he decided to meet us half way and send us a check for $1700.00 instead of what we were promised even with the floor re-sanding fee taken out $2000.00. We decided to end any more back-and-forth nonsense with this company, enough time had gone by and it was clear at this point this company was not concerned about their clients. I wanted to make this known for future renters, finding a great place to live in NYC is NOT easy, so if someone can give you a heads-up about a certain building, Management Company, etc. IT HELPS! I want future people who come across this company to be very weary before they get involved with Bushburg, especially if customer service, honesty, and money are important to them in their renting situations. Many Thanks, Jacqueline Mancusi From: Message Author (click here to email author) Date: Friday, 16-Feb-07 11:00:44 CST Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
