Hampton ceiling fan and light

Hampton ceiling fan and light This is not so much a complaint as a question. I have a ceiling fan with 3 lights. It is a mission, stained glass style. There is a glass globe "nightlight" portion that is close to the ceiling. It has light bulbs in it that have burned out. In order to change the bulbs, it appears that I have to take the whole fixture down, fan blades and all. This seems a strange design. Can this be correct? I have had the fixture for several years. Thank you very much.
