Uninstall LiveReg (Symantec Corporation) from our computer

We are attempting to place a new program on our home computer. However, we are unable to do this as long as this program is on our computer. We have tried everything to remove this program, have contacted Gateway Corporation and Microsoft Corporation. Neither is able to help us. When we try to remove it by normal channels, we get the following message, "Symantec LiveReg Cannot be removed at this time because the following applications require this component -- Norton AntiVirus." We have uninstalled all the other Norton AntiVirus from our computer but are unable to uninstall this last one. Since your corporation apparently put this program on our computer through Internet Sales, we now request that you remove it the same way, or explain to us how we can remove this program, as we have several appliications awaiting us which we cannot do until this is removed. Your IMMEDIATE help and attention to this program would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail us at Email User or call us at 1-815-718-3096 (cell phone). Thanking you in advance and waiting for your reply.

Elementary my dear Watson ... ANYTIME you cannot delete the fragments of an already uninstalled application such as Symantic's Antivirus, all you need to do is go to C:\SYSTEM\Program Files\ directory and in this case locate the Symantic folder which is likely still there and DELETE the entire folder. ALSO, you will need to search the C:\drive for LiveReg because there is likely at least one other folder in the Common Files area that also need to be removed. Now, there are likely going to be many registry settings that also need to be deleted. If you are shy or afraid to edit in the registry, well then you are likely stuck going to be stuck with LiveReg. However, understand that you already uninstalled the program, you are now just cleaning up the registry and since you already removed the remaining folders the registry entries you are about to remove are wrong anyway. From the Start menu select RUN and type in RegEdit and press the RETURN key. Once in the registry, from the Edit menu select Find and type in LiveReg. You will only be able to find one occurrence at a time in the registry so you will have to repeat the Find many, many times until you finally get a not found message. There must be 30 or more entries related to LiveReg so just keep looking for them. Delete all registry folders that are titled LiveReg. Delete any entries related to LiveReg found within other folders. Do Not attempt to do this to uninstall the application initially as the uninstall tool is supposed to remove these folders, Registry settings and other interface settings for you. Since the uninstall did not remove them, you now need to do it manually. You are in essence, removing all the other stuff that they forgot to include in the uninstall program. If you still have the Control Panel open, close it and then reopen it and you will now see that LiveReg is completely removed from your system. If it is still there, you missed some entries in the registry and you will need to go look for them. You might also try searching for Symantec in the registry as well but, they should have been removed properly by the uninstall. You can ignore any systems messages that ask you if you have lost your mind and some of you programs might not work properly if you click OK. The only thing that should be affected is Symantec programs which are no longer there anyway. If you do find an application program that seems to now work properly, simply reinstall that application program. In my case, I had no ill effects from deleting any folders or registry entries related to LiveReg and Symantec should really fix there uninstall program. Perhaps we should get a group of x-Symantec users together and set up a class action suit for $50/hr each plus court and legal fees of course for our time messing around with and uninstalling of their software. You lawyer types can work on this one.

Go to start then the control panel, click on add or remove items. Then when a new window pops up go to the sort by drop down box in the top right corner of the window and click last used then click the show updates box. When you find livereg or whatever it is just remove it (obviously click the remove button).
