I have always enjoyed shopping at Macys with its variety of merchandise and great sales but I am highly disappointed in their new calling scheme. In the past two weeks I have received 3 calls from Macys saying it was concerning a "personal business matter." I disregard the first 2 but after the 3rd I am now worried about my account. I call the 800 number given to me and I go through a whole series of transfers, punching in account numbers and holding. Finally I get connected...to India where this person can hardly understand me and I her. A constant repeats of "what's" and "can you say that again" or "I don't understand" frustrating the both of us. Finally asking to speak with a supervisor she puts me on hold for 8 min! I hang up. Now I have to call back again and go through the whole thing again. I ask for a manager. He speaks English a bit more than the woman does and I explain the messages I have been getting from Macys. He doesn't know what I am talking about. Everything is fine with my account. No late payments and no fraud. He said it was maybe a promotional call to give me some sort of discount code next time I shop. I think this is completely misleading. Nothing was said about a "promotional call". In fact the tone of voice was very worry some made me believe that something was wrong and I should call back right away.

 

I do not have a lot of time in my day and it irks me to no end that Macys is wasting my time on a misleading call. Macys needs to stop these types of calls immediately. Not only to me but to all its customers. These calls are NOT advertisements or promotions they are harassment.

Thank you for posting this Lori. I shared your concern after my third call. Rather than relent and call the number left on my machine, I checked online, and sure enough, discovered your complaint. I had been wanting to give Macy's a bit more business in light of the economic downturn, but in light of this telephone harrassment, I will be discontinuing my patronage. I hope they are able to see that this tactic backfires!!!!
