Videocon Dishwasher

Videocon Dishwasher

I had purchased a Videocon Dishwasher Model VD 1200 soon after its launch

by the company in 1999. The machine (Sr.No. 183) was delivered at my

residence and was found to be defective at the time of commissioning. It

had severe leakage problem and soon developed a host of other problems

like frequent snapping of door spring, burning of terminal box and

misalignment of door. The entire warranty period was used up by the

repairs in quick intervals. The Videocon Company perhaps realized their

mistake and immediately after introduction of a product with engineering

flaws in market, they discontinued the production of dishwasher.

Now we have to depend on the mercy of the Videocon service center as for

every spare part it takes about a month to get it from Aurangabad. The

repair is done on trial and error basis as a proper diagnosis to detect

the fault is completely missing. Every 2-3 months the machine gets burnt

out. Three times the MCB has been changed suspecting its failure in

protecting the burning of terminal box at the power input end. But all the

MCBs are found to be working when I got them checked. I am required to pay

for each visit of the service engineer and for the spare parts so often

which does not comply with the ethical practice in business. It is so

frustrating to hear from the service center that due to unavailability of

spare parts we may have to forget about this dishwasher. I had spent

Rs.20000 on purchase of this dishwasher and a substantial amount on its

frequent repairs and in return what we got is long wait for the spare

parts, mental agony, waste of time in communicating with the service

centers and at home when the machine is attended to by the service

engineer, and trouble of manually washing the dishes despite buying the

machine for the very purpose.

Is it not fair on part of the Videocon company to compensate me for

treating as guinea pig with their trial model? I demand that they return

my hard earned money so that I can buy another dishwasher of reputed brand

for trouble free service.

Thanks and regards,

S.D. Sharma
