Bridal gowns/alterations

Boutique for Brides/proms/evening gowns. Located in Nanuet Mall, 2032 Nanuel Mall, upper level in Nanuet, NY.

Bride and bridal party of 5 bought their gowns from Neelam Boutique. One of them needed alterations. They state “expert Alterations” on their bags. She had the dress altered, was charged $45 and was very dissatisfied. The gown was still very big and now was bunched up inside because they didn’t cut the seams or press them down after they altered it. Because it was beaded, the owner said it couldn’t be taken in any more but he would have it taken up from the straps. She said it would throw the gown’s line off but he insisted. She tried it back on after that and it indeed didn’t fit properly and was still too big. She asked to have it redone and he refused. The owner said to take it home and if she was still not happy, bring it back and he would re-do it. She brought it back but was told she would be charged again since she already took it home. She left and came to me. I have been altering clothes for many years and saw that this was not a very professional job and $45 was a ridiculous amount of money for what was done. We went back to the store to have him repair it for free or give her money back. He refused. I tried to appeal to him by asking why he would want an entire bridal party to be ruined by this and he shrugged and said it wasn’t his problem. I told him I would be forced to file complaints with everyone I could think of. At first he smiled and then pointing to me said, “if you ruin me, I will ruin you”. We left but my husband wanted to appeal to him. After talking to him for 5 minutes, the owner, Ashok Tandon reluctantly gave us $20 of the $45.

I don’t care to fight for the rest of the money but would like to warn young women to look elsewhere when shopping for prom or bridal gowns. His number is 845-624-3662

I have been shopping at Neelam Boutique for almost 10 years now. I'm not sure what happened with the above case because every situation is different, but I have never ever had a problem with their service.

It is a family owned business and they go out of their way to make sure the customers are satisfied. I bought my wedding gown there and my whole party proceeded to order from them as well. Everything was on time and he even gave me a free headpiece! My husband ordered the tuxedos for the whole party their as well. I now I have a daughter and I just got her communion dress and vail. I think what this store has over others is that they really try hard to make sure the customer is satisfied. The prices are reasonable and the alteration is fast. I would definitely recommend this store to others if you want individual attention on your special occasion.
