Earthlink - Overcharging by Earthlink

I subscribed to earthlink dial-up for a basic connection and made it very clear that I did not want to pay for anything extra. The earthlink agent was Indian and either there was a miscommunication or it was intentional, but at any rate I was charged for additional services that I did not want to pay for from the outset. I tried month after month to stop the overcharges and was assured each month that it would not happen again, but of course it continued. Each time I called I tried to cancel the account, but met with so much resistance (sometimes even being disconnected) that I would just hope for the best the next month. I have just gone through another ordeal trying to cancel the account, being placed on hold for an extended time and ending up shouting at the agent to cancel the account. I have finally been assured that the account is cancelled but I will be charged $30 for "breaking the contract." Of course the contract doesn't need to be honored from their side. I fear I will end up having to cancel my credit card to get rid of this problem because they have never honored their assurances in the past. I intend to file a complaint with the better business bureau in my state tomorrow. I just want to warn anyone and everyone to stay away from earthlink.

Earth link has charged my account $120.00 for services that I didn't want I had called and canceled previously and they still charged and then said that I asked for extra service then when they found the cancellation on my account the person I was talking to said that it was put into the report that I would call back when all I wanted was to cancel my account nothing more then I start loosing money
