"SEARS" Store Manager Rip-Off
|
19" Venturer T.V SEARS 2121 N Monroe ST Space 300 Monroe, Mi 48162-0000 US www.sears.com Hi, I purchased a 19 inch Venturer TV from Sears on Black Friday 11-23-2007. When I paid for my TV it was with a $50.00 visa gift card that was converted to a sears gift card so their register would take it and the balance was put on my master card, the TV quality was bad, I returned the TV on Wednesday 11-28-07
The salesman asked, is there anything wrong with it, I said it has a bad picture, no problem, gave me my receipt showing my credit to my master card and the balance in a sears gift card, I said I don't want a sears gift card, I want my charge credited for the full amount, he said let me get the manager (which was the store manager Beth) I explained all this to her, then ask what was wrong with the TV I said it has a lousy picture so she had the salesman plug it in, and said I don't see anything wrong with it I can't resell this TV and there is a 15% restocking fee, we argued back & fourth on this, she took my reciept and gift card to the register and said...let me see what I can do, punched in a few things then said on...let me go to the office sometimes that register can do things this one can't, she said I could go with her or stay there, I said I'll just wait here.
when she came out she gave me my receipt and it was not for my full amount, she voided my gift card and receipt re-rang it and took 15% off for the restocking fee, she just took my money, no different than a thief would do. Never in all my years have I been treated this way by any store. If this was their policy on returns, the man at the register would have told me about the 15% before he gave me the credit on my charge and the $50.00 gift card, I returned the TV in the box with all the packing, remote, batteries and manuals, and as a matter of there wasn't even a 19" on display when I bought this one, the salesman said it's just like the 26" and showed me that one which played real well. I should have been told of a restocking policy when I purchased the TV, If I had, I WOULD not have bought it and I was not asked would I like to look at another one or told of a restocking fee. The Return policy on the back of the receipt read's: A 15% restocking fee applies on SELECT Home appliance, Electronics...etc. not real specific. All you will hear over and over is the quote about their policy, like a Robot that has been programmed, not 1 ounce of understanding of the way this return was handled.
This issue should not be taken lightly, what was done to me was wrong and nobody should be treated like this especially by the store manager! I purchased a TV from circuit city and there is no restocking fee if you return it because you don't like it, or target or walmart or best buy..etc. I know which Electronics store's charge a restocking fee.
After 2 weeks of numerous phone call's and email's and no help from anyone that I had contacted about this I finally called the store and asked the name of the District manager, Human Resource's gave me his office & cell number, he did answer his cell phone and said he had heard nothing about my complaint, and he should have within 48 hours, I explained what was done & within a half hour he had someone call to say I would get my $29.99 refund and that's good but I would still like to know how a store manager can take it upon herself to put anybody through all this and sleep at night or she get's paid lot's not to think, that sound's more like it.
Never will I purchase anything or any service's from Sears nor will my family, friends or business owner's. After 40 some odd years of buying from Sears my Credit card is canceled and my shopping will be somewhere else.
I sure have sympathy for everyone returning gifts to Sears after Christmas but hope they put up a good fight! I am not done complaining about this Woman, I will find every resource I can to complain. Thank goodness I found this site, I will sure use this Database in the future to help guide me Thanks From: Message Author (click here to email author) Date: Thursday, 13-Dec-07 20:32:01 CST Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
