Business or Person Complained Against:

Macys Furniture/Sealy

13640 Pines Blvd.

Pembroke Pines, Florida 33027 USA

Phone: 9544382500

Date of Purchase: 06/08/2005

Product or Service Involved: mattress

Cost of Product: 1399.00

Explain Your Complaint Fully: We bought this mattress brand Sealy,

because the sales person told us this is the best one in the market, and

with 10 years warranty. After two years of use, the mattress became

deformed, causing pain in my back and my wife's back. My wife had to go

to chiropractor because the pain started to bother. We decided to put a

complain with Macy's. They sent a representative in our house, after

several calls, to measure the deepest point of the deformity. The result

was a 1/2" deformity. We called Macy's after three days to know the

result of the investigation, and we were told that the company only

change the mattress if the deformity is 1 1/2" deep. We do not agree

with this proceedings because the mattress is causing us to sleep

uncomfortable, in an odd position where the body is forced to be

crooked, resulting in back pain.

What Would Satisfy Your Complaint?: We would like to receive a full

credit to upgrade to a better mattress. If this is not possible we would

like to exchange to another one. We bought four mattress with Macy's and

this is the only one causing problem, we just need a amicable solution

for this case.

BS. Macy's and Sealy are in this together. I got a letter from Basset, manufacturer of Sealy, that Macy's will handle any problems. Then Macy's sends their "inspector" out to deny your claim. You could have a 3" sag in your mattress but all 3 companies are in this together. One pays for the other. I have been stuck in this "game" for 2 years now with no luck in sight. Good luck to anyone who buys from Macy's and buys a Sealy mattress. Go to Acme Mattress co in Long Beach first.

I had an similar problem but with a different store. I would suggest taking the problem to the manufacturer of the mattress. The store that sells the mattress to you is likely under direction from the manufacturer of what they can or can't replace, and they probably service the warranty as a service to the vendor. Macy's in turn can only comply with the policy of the vendor. Call the 1-800 directory for the number to Sealy. You may get a better result
