ALSO NO OTHER CARD VISA, REGULAR MASTER CARD, ETC DO THIS PRACTICE. I HAVE RESEARCHED IT.. ====================================================================== TODAY 8-6-07 330PM, AFTER A LONG TALK WITH A REP, @ 1-800-669-6922, (punch in your account number, THEN WHEN THEY START TALKING AUTO VRU, HIT "0" FOR OPERATOR) - I THEN GOT A LIVE REP IMMEDIATELY - NO WAIT - SHE THEN ADJUSTED The FINANCE CHARGE AS I WAS PLEASANT BUT FURIOUS (I DID ASSURE HER I WAS AWARE SHE DID NOT MAKE THE RULES AND I WOULD BE VERY NICE- AND I WAS), BUT 5THEN SAID PAY FULL AND AS CHECK WOULD BE SENT IN REFUND, DDDUUUHHHHH!!! IT IS IN A PAMPHLET SENT OUT THAT NO ONE READS. AND IF THEY HAVE A LATE FEE DISGUISED AS A FINANCE CHARGE, AND TELL YOU "ONLY WAY TO AVOID IS TO PAY 20 DAYS PRIOR TO DUE DATE,", THEY MUST ADVISE EVERY BILLING - THEY HAVE A 10 DAY BILLING WINDOW, THAT MAKES THAT IMPOSSIBLE, AS YOU GET BILL 12 DAYS PRIOR TO DUE DATE. I RESEARCHED ALL MY SEARS BILLS AND I PAY FULL, NEVER INSTALLMENTS AS THE AVERAGE DAILY BALANCE CLAUSE IS UNREAL. UPON FINDING TWO MORE FEES "FINANCE CHARGES - LABELLED" = I CALLED AGAIN AND USED SAME PROCEDURE AND CALMNESS. ALL HAVE NOW BEEN ADJUSTED. BUT, DURING RESEARCH AND COMMUNICATIONS, IT WAS POINTED OUT - "THE FINANCE CHARGE IS ASSESSED AS A FEE, AND CAN NOT BE AVOIDED " PERIOD " IF YOU USE THE CARD" IT IS SET UP AS A FEE ON The PRIOR MONTH CHARGES AND FLYS UNDER THE RADAR OF AVOIDING IT. I WILL SETTLE, I THANKED HER FOR HER HONESTY, AND SUGGESTED AN OLD FASHION COFFEE SHOP OR LADIES ROOM - PUTTING THIS ON The TABLE" AS A POTENTIAL ABUSE OF CONSUMER RIGHTS AND TRUST." SHE IS TOTALLY NOT AT FAULT FOR HER ANSWERS, AS I CONSIDER MYSELF AN EXPERT, NO A MASTER, AT SOLICITING FACTS THROUGH MANY DISGUISED SCENARIOS IN QUESTIONS. ==>> I SUCCEEDED. BOTH THE LADIES WERE TOP NOTCH, NON EVASIVE, AND VERY PERSONABLE - CLASS ACT CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS.... I INTEND TO CONSULT ALL AUTHORITIES "TO TAKE ON SEARS MASTER CARD" AS A CHALLENGE FOR THE CONSUMERS,M AND FOR SOMETHING FUN TO DO...... SEARS MASTER CARD CAN BE USED ANYWHERE THAT A CREDIT CARD IS ACCEPTED, SO I AM CONCERNED AS TO WHETHER THAT IS A CONFLICT. ALSO, I WILL NOT USE THE CARD ANY LONGER UNLESS RETRACTED FINANCE CHARGE POLICY TO ALL HOLDERS...... I still have the original card!!! I have been an outstanding customer to sears, making every payment and to say the least keeping sears in business!!! I recently received a bill showing an outrageous and uncalled for new finance charge tacked on to my account and a fine print at the bottom of the receipt stating that if our refridgerator and stove is not paid within 12 months another charge is applied. I am very appalled at how sears treats their committed customers!!! Especially at a crippling time as families struggle to make ends meet!! I have decided to take action and pay off my balance, leaving that balance I shouldn't have to pay and cut the card in half, never to be used again, I've learned a hard lesson. I've also spread this news to everyone I know so that sears loses a substantial amount of business!!!! I paid my entire revolving credit balance from my previous bill. The billing cycle ended December 18th and my due date was January 8 for that bill, which I had paid by that date. On December 19th the new cycle started and I had made a purchase on that day. That was the only purchase I had made on the new cycle. When I got my new bill I was assessed a finance charge for that purchase before I was ever given a chance to pay it off. It clearly states in the user agreement that I will not be assessed a finance charge if my previous month's balance was paid by the due date (which it was) and if the new balance is also paid by the due date. They took the charge off as a "courtesy" but the fact remains they will continue to do this in the future. I feel they are clearly in breach of contract and I fully intend to report them to a higher authority.
