Sunspots Vacations Rental, Leavenworth WA Sunspots Vacations Rental, Leavenworth, WA. Finito Services LLC P.O. Box 2170 Leavenworth, WA 98826 I rented a vacation lodge for the Labor Day weekend and I was treated with utmost disrespect and contempt. They required a 30 day pre-payment and sent me a written contract with two different terms and conditions. Their check-in time is 5 pm in the afternoon, which to begin with is bad, but their contract states that if called 24 hours in advance they may accommodate Early Check in and Late Check out. One set of the terms says pre-paid early check in, but not chargeable if someone is not available. The other one says there maybe a fee. When I called to try to request an early check in, I was put in hold for 25 minutes. This happened five times, until finally a manager who wouldn't even let me speak, told me that it would cost me half day's more. When I told the manager that was not specified in the contract, she asked me my name and put me in hold for another 25 minutes and then the line went dead again. I called again and this time, a man told me the manager didn't want to speak with me because I was rude. I guess the phone line hadn't gone dead accidently, but the rude manager had hanged up the line on me. Thank goodness, there was witness next to me that can testify that I was not rude at any time, and can also testify the 1.5 hours I spent trying to speak with someone. I rented a house in Levenworth, Washington for myself, five adult friends and a child which was what I listed on the rental agreement. They charged me a $400 deposit. The house was as advertised and we had a good weekend. Afterwords, they refused to return my deposit. They stated that I had "10 extra people" staying there, and one of their employees had witnessed the extra people. This was a total lie. Not a single person was ever on the property or in the house other than the 7 of us I listed on the rental agreement. I wrote Sunspot about 10 letters and even had everyone that was at the house sign affidavits that there were no other people there at any time (Sunspot provided the affidavits for us to sign). After all of that, they still refused to return the deposit. I reported them to the BBB and the Attorney General, and they refused to respond to both agencies. I was contemplating taking them to small claims court when, to my surprise, about six months later I received a check for a partial refund of my deposit from the Attorney General. They filed an action against Sunspots and was able to get at least some of my money back. Clearly, I was not the only one to complain to the Attorney General. It was less than half of the deposit I paid, but I felt totally vindicated. Karma is a bitch. October 2007 I can't believe that I didn't write the above comment. I book group accommodations almost at least once a year and have never dealt with such a rude, inept, disorganized and corrupt business as Sunspots. Not only did I have the same problems with payment contracts and email/fax issues, but they also misquoted me on the initial price and still charged me the higher price and I spent more than $30 on roaming charges trying to contact them while driving on the way to my VACATION!!! rental to find out where to pick up the ridiculously long check-in/out list that is designed to fail so they can charge you more money. The last thing I want to do when I go on vacation is to read 3+ pages of rules. I have never had to pay an extra charge for cleaning ($200)and on top of it they require you to wash your own linens and make the beds upon leaving. I was charged $70 for not doing this and for not taking away the garbage. They also charged us $200 for glue on the marble floor. I've called them to ask for proof and how they came up with that cost and same thing as the above comment, talked to Lynette, who said she would call me back and still nothing. If she is, indeed, the accountant, I feel sorry for her to have to put up with all this crap and have to lie to people. The Whistlestop, itself, was a great place and i hope the owners change agents, because I would go back there in an instant, but as long as Sunspots is involved - never again. And no matter what, don't book with them as you will regret it. It's not worth the headache and they ruined my vacation. You suck Sunspots! We stayed at one of the Sunspot-managed properties for a weekend in October, 2007. When we were making the initial reservations, the Sunspots staff was very disorganized and slow to respond to inquiries. They kept making excuses like their email system was down, and they wanted to do everything by fax, even though we explained to them that we don't happen to have a personal fax machine in our home. We had visitors coming in from overseas for the vacation weekend, and wanted everything confirmed in advance, but Sunspots did not provide us with the necessary details (directions, key code) to get into our unit until the day before our scheduled check-in, which was frustrating and stressful. On top of that, when we did receive our contract, our names were mispelled and the numbers in our address transposed. We notified the office of their mistake, but they made no corrections on subsequent paperwork they sent. The amount of the deposit we were required to pay was more than the total rent for the entire weekend. Sunspots took several weeks to return the deposit, and when they did, it was not in full. The Sunspots staff offered various excuses as to why the deposit was not completely refunded. We were initially told that there was a "burn hole" in the carpet. When we pointed out that the unit had hardwood floors, the excuse changed to a "burn mark" on the kitchen floor. When we asked for further proof, and information on the exact date that the damage was reported by the cleaning staff, Sunspots "manager" (actually, we were told that they were too small to have a manager, so we were referred to a member of the accounting staff, Lynnette), said that she could not find our file, and would have to call us back. She never called back and subsequent calls/messages/emails were never returned, and even when the BBB got involved, Sunspots did not respond. Their staff are totally disorganized and irresponsible and their handling of our situation clearly proves that they can not be trusted with other people's money or property. Both property owners and guests considering Sunspots should beware.
