DirecTV

DirecTV My name is Diana and right now there are 420 complaints against Direct TV, and here is another one. Ever since we purchased our package with this criminal company, they have yet to bill us correctly. First of all, we have had service for over 1 year, and we have only received two statements. I have made several attempts to get this corrected with these people, and still to no avail. We are being charged for an NFL package that we never purchased. This package costs $45.80 per month. I refuse to pay this amount. My father has the same problem, he never gets his bill. The excuse that DTV gives us is that "it must be the Postal Service." They always blame the Post Office. I am sick and tired of that excuse. My father pays with money orders because that keeps Direct TV out of his account. Well, that doesn't really work. For the second time now, DTV claims that they have not received his payment for July, so they have charged a late fee and sent a disconnection notice as well. They apparently don't realize that when a customer pays with a money order and the company does not receive, or in this case, they apply to someone else's account, that a trace in New Mexico costs an additional $12.00. This is an outrage. This is another way that they make their money. I know damn well that they have received this payment. They are a bunch of liers. What is it going to take to get these people to do their jobs correctly? I believe that DTV makes their money by charging late fees and coming up with excuses when you ask them about it. It is their responsibility to send out the statements on time. Not the customer's responsibility. I will not pay my bill without my statement. It is clear that when I get a bill (which never happens) that there are so many rediculous charges and fees assessed with no explanation what so ever. This is how DTV makes their money. This is criminal and I will no longer tolerate this.
I have just gotten off the phone with Ken Brown, a supervisor for DTV and he of course apologizes for this companies' ignorance and he tries to assist me. Well, he partially helped but the fact of the matter is, what they say is in the computer is what is correct. Apparently, they just don't give a damn about the customers and their problems or even their rights. Before speaking with Mr. Brown, I spoke to a very hostile and rude supervisor by the name of Lisa (id #33975), who didn't even let me tell her what the problem was. I had to literally yell to get her to listen to me. I could hardly understand her. She was a foreigner whose English and professionalism really sucked. This is what DTV is all about. You simply do not have to be qualified to work for them. The only requirement is that you must be an idiot..
It takes at least 20 minutes to get in touch with a customer service representative, and then an additional 30 minutes to get a supervisor. It is complete knowledge that a customer service representative can not help. Where do these people come from? Half of them can not speak English. It is frustrating enough after the half hour that you have just been on hold, and then you get some stupid foreigner on the line that you can't understand. I live in the United States of America. At one point in time that used to mean something.
For the last several months, my father and I have been dealing with the Office of the President for DTV. This month was no different except now, that number has been disconnected. What does that tell you? It tells me that they can no longer handle all of the complaints that are coming in, and cowardly have disconnected their number. This is not going to stop me. I have filed complaints with the BBB, the Federal Trade Commission and I will be filing another complaint with the Attorney General's Office. I have been assured that an investigation will be conducted. The very good news is that there are hundreds of people going through this criminal activity with Direct TV, and there will be a stop to this. I have also been told that DTV's actions are criminal and that I can in fact file a class action law suit.
If anyone out there feels the same way, I urge you to contact me so that we can proceed. These people have to be stopped and simply blown off the map. They should be doing business in Iraq. Criminals should do business with criminals. My message to Direct TV is simply this, " your criminal activities will no longer be tolerated, and you will be put out of business." We do have our rights and we don't have to take this.

So we had to buy one from BestBuy out of our own pocket. Our contract was for DTV to supply us with one at no charge. I was deployed to Iraq the following month and my pay was 51% less than my civilian job. I came home July of 2008, in September 08 I e-mailed DTV to cancel my service due to financial reasons. I had to call them in October 08 to cancel because they do not cancel service by e-mail. Here is were it gets sideways, they said I had to send in my DVR and they would send a preaddressed box to send it back. I told the lady that we owned the DVR why would we need to send it to DTV, she asked how much did we pay for it. I gave her the amount and then she credited our account the cost that I paid and said once we receive your DVR I would receive a refund. November came and went, called DTV in December to ask were my credit was and they said to call back. I received a statement that showed my full credit owed to me however it was not a check. I then called them back, this is now the middle of December. This time they said when I called that I was going to be charged an early cancellation fee and it was going to be taken off my refund. I was upset but what the heck it was a small fee, then when I hung up I thought this was done. I was wrong, January 09 came and I called them again and asked what was going on and they said my refund was comming. Then I received another statement and it showed the early termination fee taken off my credit. It had to be over at this point right, Wrong. I called them today Feb 6 2009 and asked were was my refund and they stated that the credit I was given was a non-monitary credit to keep me as a customer. I said no you owe me the full refund and I was told by the supervisor that he would try to help me, he placed me on hold to talk to a upper Mgt. When he got back on the phone with me he said he couldn't do anything for me because its been more than 60 days. So my refund is not comming, My DVR that belonged to me they have it, and they charged me an early cancellation fee on account that by default was only a 12 month contract when I was at 21 months. This company is manipulating people and cheating people out of their money and time. I have made the decision now that my only recourse was to take them to small claims to get my money back.
