Bank of America Credit Card
|
Bank of America Credit Card My complaint concerns the practice by Bank of America, and quite possibly, other large banking corporations, of continuing automatic withdrawals after the account is in a $0 balance. Not even just a $0 balance, but even after the account has been closed. I am no rocket scientist, but this is absolutely absurd. After I made a phone call to Bank of America, I was informed that it was my fault for not stopping the automatic withdrawals. Again, this is absolutely absurd. I don't believe for one minute that Bank of America is doing its accounting the old fashioned way and actually counting beans! Most of the banking institution is run by computer programs and for them to tell me that there cannot be something written into a program that stops automatic payments when the account has reached a $0 balance, and certainly when the account has been closed and the person is not even a customer of Bank of America anymore is again, ABSOLUTELY ABSURD! So, when I requested that they return the money to my checking account, which, by the way, was with a different bank, I was told to give them an address where they could send a check. This, of course, was not acceptable to me since my checking account now ran the risk of being overdrawn as other things were beginning to clear. I needed the money replaced, reversed, electronically, just the same as it had been removed. I was told that was impossible to do...you guessed it, ABSOLUTELY ABSURD! I explained that I was currently deployed to Afghanistan, and that a check was not feasible for me to work with. Again, I received the same response that it was impossible to return my money to the place it was taken from. Now I am under the impression, that this is an intentional practice designed to generate extra funds for Bank of America...not because they need them, but because of greed. How many other people that this happens to don't catch on to it? Or, when they do, they stop the payments but do not fight to get their money back? How much money does Bank of America make off of interest alone while this money that does not belong to them sits in an interest bearing account somewhere? It is as simple as stealing in my book, an most other people's books as well. If the number of people across the globe that this happens to each monthis just 2,500 and they take only $100 from each person, they have generated a quarter of a million dollars a month, $250,000. That is 3 million dollars a year! If even just 1% of those people do not catch this, then Bank of America has just came out in the good to the tune of $30,000 a year...for FREE! And we haven't even figured in the interest that I mentioned earlier that everyone knows they are capitalizing on. I cannot stress enough that this is WRONG! I don't care how you slice it, chop it, cut it, rip it...you can do whatever you want to it...it is wrong. SGT Bret A.
