SunTrust/ Bank checking account

SunTrust/ Bank checking account SunTrust Bank Knoxville Tennessee Did you know SunTrust rearranges transactions clearing order to maximize their fees, why? Well in their words "to better serve their clients". I have had an account with this bank for a few years and my balance has been as high as $24,000 + but no more will I trust these crooks. Sometimes things get tight, unexpected expenses dwindle the account too low. I called the local branch in Knoxville Tennessee to discuss why they charged me a $70 fee on August 9th. They said a check and a credit transaction came to them and the account didn't have enough to cover them both. I said that it did however have enough to cover the lower amount one but this guy revealed that since one was larger they "moved it up to clear first, as a courtesy to our clients we always clear the higher amounts first." I asked well if your going to pay them both anyway why would it matter to me, looks like the purpose in this "policy" is to charge your $35 fee for 2 items instead of one. "No we feel you would want to make sure the higher bill gets paid first." Me:" Well to inform you that I would prefer you not rearrange the transactions in order to charge more fees" This was going no where so I hung up. I called the corporate number 1800suntrust and asked why they moved a larger item in front of a smaller item as to charge both a fee instead of just one? "To better serve their clients". I said that that's ridiculous, I want a refund. She said they cannot remove any more fees that they gave me a break already this year. I said I don't want a break, I want they money back you stole. It's wrong and you know it. I have more stuff coming through and your excessive fees will cause them to have fees too now. She refuse to see my side of things so I transferred to they survey pole letting them know how useless she was. The next day all hell breaks loose in the account. I received my pay through auto deposit and a auto withdrawal comes out the next day as well as some outstanding checks I'd written. Again the total amount wasn't enough to cover it all (because of the previous fees) so they pulled the largest first charged a fee and then cleared 3 other very small items charging their $35 each time resulting in $140 in fees. If the lower amounts had cleared first (as they should since they are older debits) I'd only had 1 fee, actually if it weren't for the previous fraudulent fee I wouldn't have had any. It's a domino effect of charging fees that's ruined me. All told I have been charged $245 in a little over one week all because one check cleared on Thursday instead of Friday, that part was my mistake but all the other problems arose from one policy of SunTrust to "better serve their clients" by rearranging transactions clearing order to maximize their fees. I have canceled my auto deposits, abandoning the -188 in the account and currently looking for another bank. Can anyone help?

BOTTOM LINE; IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE $, DON'T WRITE THE CHECK AND YOU WON'T HAVE A PROBLEM !!!! The one ib Bearden area, Between 1998-2006 were charged over 7000.00 in overdraft fees. For paying them in order or sending back though 2 or 3 times on the saim item to get that fee money. Only to pay it after all that. I have filed a complaint with TN Financial Inst. We are not the only ones did my sister in-law the same. We closed our account and have not had a problem yet. Everytime I called to say this not right we should have had money to cover charges. They said sorry we are right and we need to keep better track of our spending. The president of the bank even called my mother and father in-laws and told them, when we overdrafted. Which never ended... It did not start getting bad until 2003 and that is when we started getting all the fees charged. We could not pay our bills for paying the bank. And at the time I had a brain tumor removed so we had extra bills. So it pushed us into chapter 13. We will never get back any of that money but is ashame. I just heard that two of the people president and vp were let go from this bank for faudlunt reasons From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Tuesday, 12-Feb-08 18:33:05 CST Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On ThisFrom: Message Author (click here to email author) Date: Tuesday, 29-Jan-08 22:00:06 CST Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
