Wheaton Worldwide Moving Delaware Moving and Storage Inc. Agent for Wheaton 244 Quigley Blvd New castle DE 19720 I have 2 unique issues with this moving company. I moved from Wyoming DE = to Wilmington DE on 7/19/2007. Since I had a previous extremely bad = experience with a mover, I opt to purchase the damage insurance offered = via the mover's contract. I purchased the $500 deductible policy at = $135. During the delivery of my furniture (at the new location) the head = driver pointed out to me damage to my table base. He confirmed that = since the broken piece was found in the wrapping, it was caused either = by the movers or by the representative that packed the table. He wrote = up a claim form and reported the damage (via phone) to his head office. = I made several follow-up calls to the office (302-322-0311) several = times I was told that the person who handles claims was not in the = office. I was advised to leave a message on her voice mail. After = several calls I was finally told that the agent who negotiated my = contract would come to my home to review the damage. After reviewing the = contract and reading the "small print" I realized that I only had 7 days = to report my claim so I followed up my call with a registered letter. He = finally visited my home approximately 2 weeks after the move to review = the damage. he then indicated to me that he would have someone come out = to repair the damage. A few days later, a young man showed up with a = repair kit to fix my table. The issue is, it was the same individual = that moved a wall unit for me several weeks prior to the current move. = My question is, What was the purpose of my purchasing replacement cost = insurance if the movers use their employees to fix furniture? Who = actually got the $135. Is there actually an Insurance Company involved? = Should the consumer at least see the insurer's name?contract? = Additionally, I now have a patched-upped table. It was a perfect table = prior to the move and the patching has now lessened the value (It was = purchased in 1994 for $2200). =20 My second issue is: I have a 3 piece sectional sofa moved also. The = middle section is unusually tall and the movers were unable to get it = thru the standard 36" door. They hoisted it up to the second level to = attempt to get thru the patio doors but failed in their attempt to = remove the door and squeeze the chair thru. They left the chair on the = balcony with a promise to return the next day and complete the move. = They returned the day but were still unable to get the chair thru. So = they left it on the deck with their most sincere apologies. My issue is; = THESE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PROFESSIONAL MOVERS. THEY SUPPOSEDLY MOVE ALL = TYPES OF PEOPLE AND BUSINESSES ALL OVER THE WORLD. I HAVE MOVED THIS = SECTIONAL 3 TIMES. THEY PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE REMOVED THE FRONT DOOR BUT = THEY JUST LEFT IT THERE. OUT IN THE ELEMENTS. I HAVE 2 OF THE 3 PIECES = IN MY HOUSE AND THE OTHER JUST SITTING OUTSIDE IN THE ELEMENTS. WHAT AM = I SUPPOSED TO DO IF A "WORLD WIDE MOVER" CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THE = CHAIR INSIDE? ITS ONLY A MATTER OF 3 INCHES. Yvonne R.
