Zenith XBR616 DVD player

I bought the Zenith XBR616 DVD plus VCR player/recorder in November

2006. I promptly had to replace it under warranty a month later. In July

2007, the unit only played about half of the DVDs inserted into it. I

called Zenith's customer relations and they told me that the parts would

be under warranty, but that the labor expired after 90 days. I could

mail it in for free, but it would cost me $69 in labor just to start

looking at the unit.

I decided against that since it only cost about $100 new. For now, the

unit resides in my bedroom for infrequent use.

Bottom line, skip buying this unit.

Unfortunately, I purchased two of these Zenith dogs from Circuit City online. They both do not work, one spitting out the DVD immediately after insertion, the other not finishing after DVD is recorded.

Due to family health problems, I didn't

hook them up for about 10 months, and both Zenith and Circuit City would not return my money. Both Companies are a ripoff. Stay away from them.

I had the same problem just after warranty ran had avery hard time reading discs. Then in the middle of watching would get recovering from disc erro and try to refinalize. UNIT IS GARBAGE. My trusty old panasonic vhs is over 10 yrs old never a problem

Same (sob) story as "Crushed" regarding the piece of crap 616 DVD player put out be Zenith/LG. Bought unit in Nov2006 and broke down recently in July - would not record on DVD any more. It even started having problems on the VCR side!

I am going to check around more on web and see if it's worthy of class action suit since I am reading way too many complaints for this one model. Have not found one comment anywhere on sites where it lasted beyond 10 months. What a coincidence...beyound labor but inside parts warranty! What a scam!

We all should go on YouTube and smash them and post video like others did for Apple and Dell problems in order to raise a boycot for this company crapola!

Stay away from Zenith and LG products!
