Hertz car rental

Hertz car rental in Mission Blvd.,Hayward, California. Rented a car for 3 days with 3/4 gas and return it with 1/2 gas in the tank. The agreement was I will pay for gas or I will return the car with 3/4 gas in it. If I don't sign up front for gas, they will charge me $5.49 per gallon versus the $3.18 pre purchased. I took the car back with 1/2 gallon so I figure it will only cost me $10 or $15 the most for the 1/4 gallon gas but they charged me $24.71. They take advantage of the consumer by just making up the price and the gallons they want. They don't show how many gallons they really put in there. This is a dissapointment since I don't rent cars that often. I will not rent from the same company next time. They are not honest!

I rented a car from Hertz in Salt Lake City, Utah Dec 1 - Dec 5, 2008. I received a full tank and filled the tank on my way to return the car (I have a receipt). I didn't travel much, and at $1.44 gal, it cost me $9.00 and change. No one was there to check in cars, so I had to print a receipt. They included a charge of $55.02 for fuel on my bill. I requested a refund and an explanation as to the fraudulent and deceitful practices. I haven't heard yet, as I just submitted my complaint, but regardless of the outcome, there is no excuse for this. They must figure they'll wind up getting away with a percentage of the funds they illegally charge to renters and maybe they think that's worth it.
