airtel punjab- big Frauds

First of thanks for starting such a website where we can share our problems with everyone so that they don’t get cheated.

I am from Mohali Punjab, and using Airtel connection. And I want to tell you about my experience about airtel As their new ad campaign says that its available everywhere and you can do anything on it ( basic calling to using gprs).

Now here is the problem : My house is about 2km away from an International Cricket Stadium The PCA Stadium Phase 9, Mohali. And the signal I get at my house is not even enough to talk from inside my house. Every time I receive a call I have to run out of my house to talk properly. Whereas on hutch I can talk without any problem and call drops even inside the innermost corner of my house.

Now I complained about this to airtel in aug,2006. in feb,2007 at last in Feb, 2007 they put a booster in the area. Nice right, NO, it worked for one month only and the signal died out again.

Question: So why should we pay them for this kind of service.

The second complaint: just when I thought in Feb,2006 that signal has improved. II activated the EDGE service (it fast GRPS service) which they said gives internet speed :25-30 kiloBytesperSecond.

I asked them about the availability of the service in my area and its speed, about 5 times before activating the service.

And when the service started, the speed I got in my house was maximum 6 kiloBytesperSecond (1/5 of what they told me). Now when I called the customer care to complain about this they said they are working on it and there will be resolution in 48-72 hours. Two months passed after that and the bill for this 1/5 the service I got was Rs 2200. 1100for a month for EDGE service.

EDGE SERVICE: speed:25-30 kbps charges:Rs.999 per month

GPRS SERVICE: speed:5-8 kbps charges:Rs.700 for 2 month.

So why should I pay for edge service when I was getting speed equal to the normal gprs service????????????????????????????.

I recommend Hutch in Punjab or you can have BSNL as gsm mobile service. A big NOOOOOO for Airtel.

I totally agree with what you are saying as i'm facing similar problems with AirTel, they commit something else and deliver something else. I changed my prepaid number to a post paid number and was charged unnecessarily saying the message packs etc have been deactivated on my number due to reasons not known to them also !!

Even after repeated complaints nothing has been done. It is not possible for me to change my number instantly, as it has been circulated amongst all the family members and the clients of the organization that I am working with otherwise I would have got my number closed there and then.

There should be some kind of transparency in their working system. Steps should be taken against them !!
