In early January 2007, I ordered a Sony CD burner through Amazon on line sales. They shipped via DHL. In February, after noticing the order had been delivered to the Lake Havasu, AZ post office which is over a 100 miles from my home in Dolan Springs AZ, I contacted both Amazon and DHL. Amazon knew nothing and DHL claimed to have given it to the USPS. Knowing because of my rural location that the package was undeliverable via the address required by DHL, a street address. All mail in my location goes to a PO Box because there is no USPS street delivery. On notifying Amazon, again in early February, the order was resubmitted with instructions to be delivered via UPS. Within 3 days I had received the order.Recently, I ordered a GPS and a portable DVD player for my disabled wife, orders 102-0369270-6318558 and 102-1632204-1383350, on checking on their progress, I noticed to my horror, that they had been shipped DHL. I immediately contacted Amazon to inform them that the packages were undeliverable via DHL. Despite an e-mail and a phone call to customer service, they insisted I had to wait and see if they did show up. I than contacted the Lake Havasu Post Office which had shipped the orders to the Kingman AZ post office. The Kingman Post Office informed me due to the DHL delivery address, my street address, that the packages would be not accepted and sent back. The local postmistress in Dolan Springs told me that not only were DHL deliveries unacceptable but they were not legal there and to her knowledge, never would be. I have made 2 phone calls to Amazon and numerous e-mails to no avail. They refused to ship specific via UPS or USPS despite my over and over telling them DHL was undeliverable. I have received several apparently form e-mails apologizing for inconvenience. This is more than inconvenient, this is insulting. Apparently DHL is more important to them than my continued business. Coincidently enough, when I informed Amazon customer service of my experience in February and the reshipment of my order via UPS, I was informed they don't do that anymore and orders were shipped via whatever truck was at the dock. I commented that it means a reorder could end up on a DHL truck again and was informed, that was true.
