I recieved a letter from discover card today( which I reserve for balance transfers mostly) stating that they were raising my interest rates for purchases to 18.9% effective June 1. They stated their reason as my debt ratio was too high and the balance on my revolving charges was also high. They neglected the fact that in the past 12 or more years I have NEVER been late or delinquent on ANY of my charge accounts. That doesn't matter.Trans Union says my debt ratio is high and boom....the interest rate goes up. What a crock. I've taken this as a personal insult and vow to let all of my associates know what a POS company Discover is and will urge them to cancel their accounts as well. Needless to say, I called Discover and told them to either keep my rate as is or cancel my card and when the account associate stuttered for a second I cut the card and closed the account. I absolutely refuse to be blackmailed by a credit card company that refuses to use payment history as a basis for credit

We have been a customer of Discover for several years also. We have not always pain on time, but have made payments with late fees etc if we have been behind. Several times we have paid the total balance off. I have always enjoyed being one of their customers in the past. Recently they have begun calling our home daily when two weeks before a payment is due. I paid them $350 on September 18 and within 2 weeks they were already calling me when my next payment was not due until October 25th. Come to find out they are taking their money for finance charges out right when they bill and with old late fees (which the September $350 should have paid up and more) I am never touching my balance. When I contacted the company and questioned them if they desired me as a customer they gave me the same rhetoric about when the payment is due and how they are only looking out for my best interests.....blah..blah...blah...blah...blahblah. I SAY THEIR IS NO GOOD CUSTOMER IN THEIR BOOK. I WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR OVER 6 YEARS BUT NOW THEY HAVE BECOME JUST ANOTHER BIG MONEY SUCKER AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION OR IF THEY EVEN CAN CONTINUE TO KEEP CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE PAID THEM THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OVER THE YEARS. Do not keep Discovers credit cards!!!!!!
