computer check approval

On today,4-6-07, I went into Wal-Mart to do my regular shopping. (Have been a frequent customer). Finished shopping and went to check out and encountered the new Computer

Check Approval System. System declined my check. I spent ten minutes of embarassing

telephone conversation at the register talking to Fernando, who was in another state trying to

tell me unsuccessfully why my check was declined.

He stated some nonsense about a problem with my survivor signee on the account having a discrepancy with her Driver's License. He would not tell me what the problem was.

I am a widow and all my funds are direct deposited. I do not carry large amounts of cash due

to this fact. My daughter was placed on the account in case I became incapacitated and could not write a check. Her D.L.number is not on this account. Only her signature.

When she called the toll free number that I had previously called, she was told that her D.L.

number was on another account in Fort Worth, Texas at Southwest Bank.

We both reside in Jasper, Texas. I have used this same account at Wal-Marts from Austin, TX and in all Southeast Texas. I have not seen this System in any of the other stores.

Your representative, Fernando, told me that this System has been in place for two years.

I am the Primary Account Holder, the bank does not require my daughters D.L. number.

The only question that should have needed verification should have been whether or not I was the person making the purchases and writing the check.

I am sorely displeased with the way I was treated of all things by a COMPUTER that cannot

tell the difference between a driver's license and a totem pole. I was embarassed and humiliated when I had to leave the Jasper Wal-Mart #0214 without my groceries and purchases. I did not have enough cash on me and no other method of payment.

YOUR SYSTEM NEEDS RE-VAMPING! I am not a stranger to Wal-Mart, but I will be now.

and I will tell everyone I meet about my experience.

With a computer approving the checks, anyone can now STEAL and CASH another person's

check because the computer cannot identify the person writing the check.
