Dish Network

Dish Network

For about a year I have had charges for pornographic (and a few mainsteam) pay per views that I did not order showing up on my bill. I'm good with technology and was careful to put every possible lock on my receivers when I first got them. Channel locks, content locks, ratings locks, etc. Nonetheless charges for pornography began showing up on my bills. The listed dates were often days when no one was home, or for strange times like 6 a.m!

I have called Dish at least ten times about this in the past year. Every time I am told the same thing. "Sir, there is no way these charges could be on your bill if someone hadn't ordered the movies with your remote, or over the phone." It gets frustrating to continually be told this. For heaven's sake, if my interest were in getting free porn, I'd just get it off the Internet, where I wouldn't have to spend countless valuable hours talking to rude customer service people about how to get bogus charged removed from my bill. It's condescending, and I'm so sick of it. One customer service guy told me a couple months ago, "Sir, Dish Network has x million customers, and this is the first time I have EVER heard a complaint like this." Of course with x million customers, I knew I couldn't be the only one, and that I was being lied to. Especially because this guy said he had worked for Dish for eight years!

Today I called Dish and spoke with a supervisor. I asked him to put a note on my account to disallow all pay per view movies forever and ever. He refused, saying, "What if you want to order pay per view in a few months?" I said, "I joined Blockbuster online. I have no reason to ever do that." He argued with me, but I finally talked him into putting a note on my account to permanently disallow all pay per views. Then I asked if I could get a written statement from Dish to this effect, and he refused. I never could get him to agree to send this to me in writing. I'm going to keep working on that. If Dish Network can indeed disallow access to all pay per views like I was told, why not send me a letter stating this has been done? The only reason I can think of not to is so that later on, if/when more bogus charges show up on my bill, customer service can deny there was ever a note on my account to disallow these films, and again blame me for the whole thing.

I'm sick to death of the whole thing. So why do I stay? Frankly, because I can't get TV service for anywhere close to the cost of Dish Network. I think I'm beginning to see why... I wish I knew what to do next, because this seems to me like class action lawsuit material. I have never been so angry with a company in my life.

Dave, you most certainly are NOT the only one that this is happening to. We have had this problem off and on for a number of years. I am always told "these things sometimes happen." What!!!??? So, it's normal to be charged for any number of porn films, all rented on the same day, and all with start times within just minutes of eachother?!

We live in a rural area that doesn't have cable access and we can't even pick up local programing without the dish, so that's why we stay with them.
