Complaints about Chevrolet

Complaints about Chevrolet The Chevrolet Company I have a Chevrolet Cavalier 2004. It is 3,000 miles over the warranty. In December the engine died on it. The car was taken to our local dealer Tilleman Motor Company and diagnosed. Their diagnosis is that a bolt came loose inside the engine resulting in the damage. The service department contacted their distributor for Chevrolet. He informed them because it is over the warranty they would only pay half of the cost to put a new engine in. The total cost is around $4,500.00 I am told which would make my half $2,250.00. My husband has been fighting colon-rectal cancer since 4/06 and we have numerous doctor bills. I am still paying for my car plus insurance (because there is a loan against it I can not drop the insurance). Basically I am paying for a dead horse. I feel if it was a manufactures defect I should not be responsible for the repairs. I have been buying Chevrolets or GMC’s as my last 5 vehicles and was planning on doing so for life. Since this has happened and I am being given such poor treatment I don’t feel I will be buying another. My husband and I drove strictly Fords and never had a problem. I decided to try out a Chevy one year and liked it. I had to talk my husband into getting a Chevy (this was no easy task) so right now I am sure he is saying to himself “she should have stayed with Ford”. The service manager at the local dealership (Bill) has been very helpful and so has the customer service department rep (Nicole) for Chevy. I am told from the customer service department that they may be able to help me a little more after I pay my half of the engine. I explained there is no way I can do that right now because of the medical costs. Even though she was apologetic and very nice she basically informed me that her hands were tied. I feel as if another big corporate company has kicked the little man aside again. I guess when dealing for a car or pickup if anyone reads this you may want to consider a different manufacturer than Chevrolet. I know if I can ever afford another new vehicle it will not be a Chevy.
