Acura TL/ DCH Montclair Acura On April 16th, 2007, I give my car in to DCH Montclair Acura and told them to fix the right-side headlight, perform oil-change, fix the SRS light and balance the tires. ON April 18th 2007, I get a call back saying that the headlight is going to cost me $1900 to fix. I was surprised and asked the technician (Joe) as to why so much? He went through a list of parts and said that they all need to be replaced. I told him that thats too much money and I can't afford that much so how about he fixes other things but don't work on the head light. On April 19th 2007, my brother went to pick up the car and when he tried to turn the lights on (it was dark), the left-side headlight wasn't working either. My brother instantly went in and told the lady at the counter that he can't accept the car like that as we gave the car in with one headlight working and he brought the loaner back. He also told the lady to tell Joe to contact us. After numerous attempts I finally got hold of Joe on April 24th 2007 (after 5 days) and when I asked him as to why both headlights weren't working, he was surprised that my car was still at the dealership. When I told him that I had tried calling him so many times and left messages for him, he said that nobody told him about it. When I inquired about why both headlights were not working. He said that when they were inspecting the left side headlight, a wire broke because it was corroded. When I asked him why he was playing around with the left side when the task order was to fix right side, he said that it is in their policy to see everything is working so the customer doesn't come back. After several attempts talking to him and arguing about how and why the left side is not working, he kept saying that as technician was looking at it and inspecting it, the wire broke and now I have to pay for invertor, ignitor, and the bulb to get it all fixed. When I asked him to give me the car back in the condition I gave him in, he said I'll have to pay for all that ($800 worth of parts and $200 worth of labor). Then later I talked to Assistant Service Manager (Domenic) and asked him why I have to pay 3 parts that were working when I brought the car in. He kept saying the same thing that the wire was corroded and the pins broke as the technician was looking at it. Then I asked him pins for what part and he mentioned pins of the invertor. So I asked my that if the pins of the invertor broke why do you have to have other two parts (bulb and ignitor). Rather than saying let me see if those parts are working, he kept saying that I'll have to change to those parts. The estimate he gave was $1600+ dollars. So from $1900 dollars, he came to $1600 dollars. Then today (April 30th 2007) I went to the dealership to talk to the GM - Mark Cronin and he said that the story he heard is that both headlights were not working when the technician brought the car in. I seriously could not believe him and after going back and forth on the same issue, we walked out. As I went back in to get GM's name, I saw both Mark (GM) and Domenic laughing. Basically, what I received from DCH Montclair Acura after 2 weeks ordeal is a damage worth $1000 dollars to my car and NO SERVICE! People who I believe are highly unprofessional at the dealership are: Mark Cronin (GM) Domenic (Asst Service Manager) Joe (Service Advisor) From: Message Author (click here to email author) Date: Monday, 30-Apr-07 19:18:14 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
