I did some researched on empire before setting up a appointment, i even browsed through the 50,000 complaints they received from other consumers. But i had to give them the benefit of doubt. The sales lady was on time and conducted business is a professional manner so i cant complain about her. However, there prices are outrageous they take a low quality product and charge top dollar prices. I had the woman bring in a number of samples of there laminate, hardwood and carpet and give me prices on all. this is what she calculated. At 300 sq ft the hardwood floor would cost 9312.00, laminate 6635.00 carpet 2112. I could not help laughing. I did some research online previously and got a number of estimates for example oak saddle would cost me 4.50 per sq ft aprox.1350 for the material give or take so speaking on the real hardwood empire is charging 7962 for installation . Keep in mind you do have to account for the doorways, the moving of furniture etc.. But 8000 worth i don't think so. So she got on the phone with her boss and she came back with a figure of about 6500. After about 30 minutes it started to feel like i was buying a car she was back and forth on the phone with her sales manager trying to make me a better offer. After all was said and done his final offer was 3800 for the laminate. A product that i did not want. I was told that they did not have the power to lower the prices on the other products because they did not own the rights. Which makes no sense at all. What it comes down to is this company is a branch of franchises who buy a product at discounted rates and sell at e xtremely high prices there taking in a huge amounts of cash flow. If i would of purchased the floor they would have made about 6000 in profit after paying subcontractors to do the work for them.. Now the good news.. The manger said that if i would install and found a better deal anywhere else he would match the price. [yeah right] Well Dan..if your reading this I went down the street and got a great deal a BEAUTIFUL floor from [SOMERSET]Oak Desert tan. For a total of 3200. I could of went for laminate at a total of 1200. 2600 less then what your offering. Yes i do have to wait a week for the install but hey i saved 8000 bucks which gives me the ability to do my kitchen and bathroom or perhaps buy a new car. Your company is a ripoff and i will never do business with you nor will anyone i come across.
