Circuit City does not care about customers

I needed to exchange some gift items that came from Circuit City. I went to the NE 102nd Ave. (Gateway) location in Protland OR. I had the original receipts. The clerk told me they could not take back products after 30 days. I told him that was not consumer freindly, and that I just needed to make exchange the unopened goods for different ones. He asked if I would like to speak to the manager, and I said I definately would. He got on the phone and spoke to the manager for a couple of minutes. When he hung up he said he was sorry, but it was past the 30-day time limit and the sale was not in the computer. They still carry two of the three items, and they had low stock on them. I picked up on this as he talked with his manager. I had no problem keeping the third, as it was a duplicate of one of the others and I really just needed to return one. I brought in both just in case there was any problem with somehting no t being stocked. I knew there was that slight chance they might not carry all three items.

I was insulted that the manager would not get off his lazy rear and meet with the customer - one of the people that helps to pay his salary. Especially sine the clerk had offered to get him. I guess he shouldn't offer what he can't deliver on.

I attempted to contact an area/regional manager, to complain about the manager that would not talk to me, and about not being able to make a product exchange. I submitted my name and phone number, with a request for a manager over that area to contact me. THREE WEEKS later I received a response that basically stated my request was not clear. I replied back that it could not be clearer, and that I could not understand why it took three weeks to come up with that lame reply. I replied back with the details I just presented, explaining why I wanted to talk to someone in authority.

I got back a response that essentially said nothing but "sorry we could not help you".

They show a total indifference to the customer. No accountability for management, and under paid under qualified sales floor staff. I bought there because of the selection and the fair pricing. The pricing is not the lowest, but the customer service level is.

I sent them one last reply. Gave them one last chance to satisfy me. I have one more DVD drive than I need, and a hard drive that is smaller then my needs, that I really want to exchange. I seriously doubt they will still do anything. But it doesn't hurt to try once more.

Found this site while looking for another point of contact to send complaints to Circuit City.
