Northern Leasing Systems This is a business that leases credit card machines to retailers. They are headquartered in NY. They found me after I registered with the Dept of Revenue in Colorado as a new sole proprietor. I believe they targeted me as such, and the salesman told me it was $15 per month and 48 months to lease this basic machine, on top of paying a fee to another company to actually accept the transactions. He told be flat out that "no-one will lease for less than 48 months". This is a blatant lie, I found out shortly afterward. The $15 turned into $26 per month and I called him and got it reduced to $20.39. He also told me I would have no trouble transferring the lease to someone else in the event my business closed before the 48 months was up, and that there was a buyout option if I needed to use it. The buyout is $19.72, 68 cents less than what I would pay per month anyway, and I cannot in good faith try to "sell" my contract to another unsuspecting business owner. I am not a liar and do not cheat people to make a living. I now know as a business owner I have many more options than paying more than $1000 for a plastic machine that does nothing without additional payments to activate it. When I call Northern Leasing, there are no supervisors or managers to speak too. Because it's a contract I signed, I have no recourse but to alert other business owners to this scam. Northern Leasing cannot give me the name of the salesman, and he is no longer at the number they gave me to try. There is no reason a basic machine should cost a user over $1000, there is no reason to lease these machines when you can buy, or lease for one year, or run cards through your computer for tiny (in comparison) fees.
