home depot installations in vernon hills

my complaint is against the home depot in vernon hills, IL. we had a small amount of a dark berber carpeting installed in our upstairs hallway two years ago, and we immediately noticed that it was laid in crooked. however, we figured it wasn't too bad for anyone not looking for it, and it was a small amount of carpeting -- too much trouble to grapple with home depot over.

in that same year we had a fence installed in our backyard by home depot. the person who installed it said it would settle a LITTLE bit, and advised us to wait a year until the warranty was almost up, then call and have it fixed. fair enough....

the fence settled so much that it twisted the metal latch out of place. we called and they came out, but they only replaced the latch. now, the latch is again twisted so much that we can't latch the door at all. the door has sunk into the ground from pulling on its supporting post way too much. the leaning post, which was what was actually causing the problem, was conveniently never fixed the first time, which is why the twisting of the latch started happening again almost immediately. now the door itself is so unstable and crooked, the latticework at the top of it has popped off. our two year old fence looks like a thirty year old fence. our neighbor, who installed his fence himself years before we had a fence, has no problems at all with his fence door which is right next to ours.

we are in the process of trying to get someone at home depot to answer for their fourth-rate installers and clean their mess up, but we wanted to warn everyone here to think twice before going to home depot for any home improvement work at all.
