Dish Network Services

Dish Network Services Dish Network Services, a satalite TV company. My mother died in October 2006. I, her daughter, who is legally on her account, called Dish Network to explain her passing and that we needed to disconnect her service. They agreed to cancel her subscription/contract if I returned the equipment (receiver and remote) and they would not charge a disconnect fee. They told me not to send the equipment until they send me the boxes and the prepaid mailing labels to return it in. This was in November. TI will try to shorten this nightmare of a story. I never rec'd the boxes, and made calls every 10 days to the company asking where they were. I was given reasons of "we don't show where any were sent", "we must have mailed them to the wrong address", and of course, "they're in the mail". So I waited. Then on Jan 2, 2007, I was called by my deceased mother's bank, who said an overdraft had occured for $253.02 from Dish Network. The bank paid it, charging us $20.00. I was outraged. I called Dish Network again, was cut off several times, but finally got through and they said they took the money because I hadn't returned the equipment. Go figure!! I was waiting on the boxes and labels as instructed, and I kept in contact with them. On Jan 12, 2007, I called and finally spoke with a rep who said he could email me the prepaid labels and I could return the equipment. I received the labels by email, packaged up the receiver and remote and returned them on that day. I rec'd a Return Receipt that they got them on Jan 20th. I wrote a long letter telling them that we had closed my mom's account and that the money they had taken for the equipment would need to be mailed by check to me for her. Today is April 15th, and I called them to see where the refund was, feeling like I'd allowed more than enough time. They said they just left it as a credit on her account. A deceased woman's account! Oh my gosh. What kind of idiots work there? I demanded the money and they said it would take 3 weeks to mail it to me. 3 weeks! or I could have it given as a credit on a major credit card in 7-10 days. So, I gave them my card number and I now await to see if they follow through. They cost us money. The took money illegally and then held my money, and of course aren't paying me back for any of my expenses in all this. Dish Network is terrible with customer service. Hundreds of people work there and you can never get the same person to speak with. It's crazy. I and my family all intend to cancel our contracts when they are up and move on to someone else.
