9 West Store-Pentagon City Mall Arlington, Virginia

I don't know if this is particularly awful or I am just used to dealing with other retailers. I purchased two pairs of shoes from the 9 West store in Pentagon City Mall. Unfortunately, I wore both pairs one time. The first time I wore one of the pairs I was not really walking around much. The pair hurt my feet but I didn't think much about it. The next day I wore the other pair and realized that I could not really walk in them. When I tried to return them, I found out that I could not because they have been worn. The store is adamant. I come to find out that yes, the policy is stated in the store in a sign written in very small letters that I didn't see when I purchased them. It is also written on the reciept that I didn't look at until later.

It did not occur to me that the store would not take these shoes back. Whenever I've returned shoes before when they hurt my feet there has been no problem at Macy's, Nordstrom, or Lord and Taylor. This is true with most of the retailers I've dealt with. I know I should have paid better attention, but I really don't want to be out $172 dollars for shoes I can't wear.

I spoke to the store manager and she was adamant that there was nothing she could do. I am really angry at the store and ready never to do business there again. I know part of this is my fault, but I was wondering if there is anything I can do to get my money back or if I am overreacting.
