Charter Communications DSL

Charter Communications DSL

This is for Charter Communications DSL service in

Grovetown GA

OK My hubby and I bought a home here in GA and at the

time lived in an apartment that gave us free basic

cable with Comcast and we paid for DSL. When we bought

our home I then contacted Comcast to see if they

serviced that area. NO. So the previous homeowners had

Charter so I contacted the company. Placed an order

online for self install DSL and basic cable.

The day arrives for the guy to come out and I guess he

took an hour to try to locate all three connection

jacks I had (he gave up, the 3rd was in the dining

room, not my idea) SO he proceeds to check my two tvs

to see the cable was connected then takes my laptop to

install the DSL. I told him 3 times, no I ordered the

self install kit for $9.99 (yes they charged for that

and we have our own modem) He still insisted to do it.

SO When I picked up my hubby I told him and he

proceeded to call the 1-800 number and try to explain

this to the lady. She said take it to your local

office, they are open until 10pm (wow)

Off we go to the office and there is this huge sign

Office closed please take payments to * gas station.

No way!! SO we called the next day and were again told

to take it to the office. The dorr is locked and

chained....Hello.

SO after this mess we were dealing with a move and a

family emergency and school enrollments so when I got

my bill a month later I freaked out $179!!!SO I called

and explained this to the lady and she said it was now

after 30 days and I signed the work order and so I was

up a creek.

So I talk to a friend who just had a house built right

down the road and when CHarter came out for him they

had to install the jacks and everything and his bill

was $120. The same guy did both jobs and my friend

said the guy didn't have an order to run an extra jack

but since he was there he might as well and since it

wasn't on the order he didn't charge him!!!

Now I am really angry and I contacted the BBB on these

guys. Oh I had no idea so many people hate them!

Well today I get an email from BBB stating that

Charter refused to work with them and there was

nothing else that could be done.

I have now found out that I can go to City hall and

propose that they open the contract to not just

Charter because right now Charter owns the contract to

our town. SO I am going to go door to door if I have

to to get people to sign a petition to allow other

companies in to do DSL in our area.
