Kirby Vacuum / In Home demo OK..... You will Love this one, On 9/28/06 a Kirby sales rep. came to my door and politely asked if he could demonstrate the latest Kirby model to me. He said he would clean the carpet in one room as part of the demo. So I let him in. What a mistake this was. After he entered my home the next sentence out of his mouth was , " I need one more sale to win my free trip to Cancun ". In the next 45 minutes or so I must have heard about his free trip to Cancun a dozen times or so. When I finally was able or aloud to speak, I asked him about the cost of this Miracle vacuum. I was told it had a price tag on it for $ 1,725 . I told him that for a price tag like that I would me to discuss it over with my wife. Here is were I start to get pissed off. He asks me were my wife is, and I tell him she is at work. So he tells me " So what does she have to do with this? ". Now before I could answer he calls his manager, whom shows up at my door in about 2 seconds. Now his manager comes in my house and makes himself at home and asks me what I do for a living. I told him I work construction. The manager asks me if I have any business cards because he needs some windows installed in his house...so I gave him one. The manager asked the sales rep how the sale is going..... and the rep says I think it is a guaranteed sale ! Now they both start filling out paper work ...... and they even picked out my payment plan. After a couple minutes the manager left I looked at the sales rep and told him I never agreed too buy the vacuum. He looked at me and said " Why ? " and I told him again that this is a major purchase and I would need to talk it over with my wife. His reply was " Why? ,....She wasn't here for the demo.... so she doesn't know @#!$ about it". My reply to that was "this sale is over". He then got pissed off and said ' I guess I'm not going to get my trip to Cancun and called his manager on the phone. I told him I'm sorry if he fells I wasted his time. His reply to that was " I'm not the one who is going to be sorry ". ( Doesn't that sound like a threat ). After he is done throwing all of his stuff in a box his manager pulls up to pick him up. As they are loading the vacuum in the back of the van , the manager asks " I thought his was a sale ." , the sales rep says " No, he is an @!$$%$#." The manager then takes out my business card ( The one I gave him ) and rips it up and throws it on the ground and they drive away. Now if this is the kind of people Kirby has representing them, they should close their doors, because that is how mine will be the next time they show up at my home, CLOSED!!! As I am sure there are Walmart's with bad reps I am sure there are bad reps in any company. I want to extend my absolute disgust at they way you were treated in your home. I can say in my company there will be no high pressure tactics used in a customer's home. Yes, show the customer the machine and why they should own it but nobody wants to be pushed. That was in the 50's. Consumers are too educated and smart to be pressed. We think of sales as trying to get a womans phone number. If you press too hard. she will give you a wrong number. but if your a gentleman and you do a good value building demo then you'll get her number! HA I like my team to give a memorable experience. I agree the manager did the wrong thing by ripping up your card. He not only destroyed your future business but all the people you know will never allow a Kirby person in their home. A shame From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Tuesday, 10-Jun-08 22:17:32 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
