Art Van doesn't Deliver as promised and your credit will suffer for it.

Art Van, Dearborn, 14 mile Warren

In January I went to Art Van in Dearborn and purchased a full living

room set, dinning room set and mirror. I applied for and received

credit to purchase the items as I was not sure I would have all the

cash in 2 weeks when the furniture was due to be in.

I moved the next week and since in less than 7 days I was getting all

new furniture I just gave away all of my old living room furniture to

a friend, I did not want to move it twice. At the end of the 2 weeks

I called about my furniture and when to expect delivery, I was told

Mid January, it was already mid Januaury. I called a week later and

got "Late January" called back at the end of the month and got "mid

February" this continued until about the middle of march when they

finally called about furniture delivery.

I went almost 3 months with out ANY furniture. I went in to the store

several times and ended up getting quite rude with the service girls.

But it got me no where. Getting the furniture was not the end of my

trouble though.

They never delivered the mirror we had bought, but marked that they

had, after multiple calls about the mirror I was told that they did

not have any more and had sold the one I bought and PAID FOR. How do

you sell a mirror that is already sold. I could come back in and pick

another. No thank you. I asked them to please refund the money to

the finance company.

So by now my troubles should be over right. Not so much. I paid off

the finance in one payment within a week of getting the furniture. I

was told to pay all the cost minus the mirror and if I pay it in under

90 days I will not be charged finance fees. I never heard anything

after that for 90 days so I thought I was ok. 90 days go by and I get

a letter saying I owe another 340 dollars for finance charges. When I

called informed me that it was because I had not paid 24.95, the cost

of the mirror. I explained that I had not received the mirror and

that I was not paying for it and had talked with the Art Van Manager

about it. I was told "To Bad, you are responsible for the finance

charges now it has been 90 days." After much arguing and pulling

paper work and calling the Dearborn Art Van many time 3 weeks later

the mess was cleared up, but not before they posted a late payment

onto my credit report.

Dealing with Art Van is a nightmare and I will never do so again.
