Philips 50" Flat Screen TV produced by Philips Consumer Electronics Philips Consumer Electronics is located all ove the world as far as I know. In early November of 2005, I bought a Philips 50" Flat Screen HDTV. I bought it in Jackson, Mississippi. It came with the standard one year warranty. From the start, the set was buggy and complicated, the technology obviously not matured yet, and I bear the responsibility for probably buying something too early. But 10 days ago, the TV screen went from normal to where it looks like a negative film from an old fashioned camera after it has been turned on for 3 minutes. I went to the Philips Customer Support web site and chatted with a rep who referred me to manuals which suggested things like check to see if the TV is plugged in, duh. Finally, I was given a number to call. The tech rep suggested that I unplug the TV to let it "reboot." When that did not work, he gave me the name of a local repair facility to call for warranty work. Guess what? Mighty worldwide Philips has a guy who runs a one man shop who is fresh out of the hospital from hernia surgery to do their warranty work down here. According to him, he must come get my TV, take it back to his shop, open it up to find out what is wrong, call Philips to get permission, and then fix it. How he is going to wrestle this monster into his shop after hernia surgery is a vast mystery. I have emailed Philips and snail mailed them asking for some guidance with my problem, and have gotten no response. Philips is absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with. I may actually have to sue them to get them to honor their warranty! Philips is awful.
