AOL Complaint

AOL Complaint I saw your link on MSN Today...I thought it was so ironic since I have recently had trouble with AOL. In february, I signed up for a free 6 month trial for aol (dial-up)( and of course they needed bank account info). I had signed up for online classes...aol dial up took forever to check my e-mail, never mind taking classes! After about a week of wanting to beat up my computer everytime I signed onto the net, I called my phone company and got DSL for $14.00/month after taxes. I called AOL to cancel...they sat there for 10 minutes trying to sell me different programs. I told them I just wanted to cancel my member ship and they went on about how I will still have free e-mail and what not. Whatever, I was agrivated with aol, so I never actually went on to check my aol e-mail that I only had for a week. I went online as well to cancel my membership and uninstall it from my computer. At this point I was like..."Yay! Free from AOL!". That same month, my bank was bought over, wich meant new accounts, routing numbers, checks, etc. SIX months later, there is an AOL charge on my bank account for almost $40.00!!!! I was so angry. I called them again, quite angry and denmanded to know why there was a charge on my account, when all my bank account info had changed and I had CALLED and cancelled and went online and canceled. They claimed that they have NOTHING in there system of me ever calling...okay, the day I set up my account I had to call about 5 times, because of technical errors on their part. I called a week later to cancel even though it was still free. If they are such a high tech company....HOW COME MY CALLS WERE NEVER RECORDED? The guy on the phone was trying to sell me virus protection, high speed internet for 3x's the price I was paying, etc. totally avoiding the subject of me canceling my subscription AGAIN, finally I asked him, so when should I expect the refund for the money you charged for the services I haven't used in over six months. He got a real attitude with me and told me I was lying and that I never called, and I will not be refunded the almost $40.00 they charged. I told him to cancel my account and this is why I HATE aol! I have sent e-mails to the billing department regarding this matter, not ONE response from them. My enitire family has been members of AOL since they first STARTED, and over the past two years they have just charged an arm and a leg for crappy service so they've all switched. Personally, I think aol should be shut down permanately. I am a proffesional who runs a business. I wouldn't have any clients if I treated them like this!
