Misled by Sears

I have been a good customer of Sears since 1993. I ask them several months ago to lower my interest rate. I received the standard letter from them to call a Sears Rep. to help me. I received NO help. My husband had a massive heart attack in April and is unable to work. His workplace short term disability checks are half now of what they were. I have repeatedly written to Sears, telling them we cannot make these payments. The last Rep. I talked to told me she would sign us up for "Account Care" and it would pay the minimum payment for me. The cost was supposed to $11.00 a month. I ask her plainly if it would pay this minimum payment of $77.60, she said yes. I again wrote to Sears informing them I had Account Care and they would be making the minimum payments for us. I also sent in the bill and wrote on it that Account Care would be paying that. When I received my Sears bill this month there was a $96.00 charge for Account Care plus a late fee of $39.00. My minimum payment is now $346.82. I have written to Sears again, telling them I want the amounts taken off and how I was mislead by their representative. I also borrowed the money from my father to pay the minimum due amount of $77.60, and sent that to Sears.

I called Account Care and they informed me that my husband is not on the account and therefore is not covered. I called Sears back and told them what A.C. said. The Sears Rep informed me that due to another Sears Rep's. error in 1993, I was put on as the primary user and the authorized user.....she said it should not have been like that, but they can't go back in time and change it. But evidently it wouldn't have mattered because my husband would not have been covered anyway. The confusing information I finally received from Account Care states that if you become disabled you are not eligible for A.C. and you must be off work 30 days before you become eligible.

I am so angry at how I was mislead by Sears.
