My complaint is concerning USAir. On Sept. 8 I flew from Las Vegas to Seattle....a direct two hour flight. Unfortunately, my luggage didn't make it to Seattle with me. I had done my part...arrived at the Las Vegas airport 2.5 hours early, checked my luggage, delivered it to the xray as requested, etc.

My complaint is not so much about the fact that USAir lost my luggage but more with their inability to take responsibility for their mistake. In Seattle, I reported my luggage missing and was given a claim number and a phone number to call for updates, along with assurance that it would probably be on the next flight. This was at 2:00 in the afternoon. I took the shuttle to my hotel and, beginning at 4:00 (the time the next flight was due in) began calling the contact number. A person never answered this phone number but I did leave a message every time I called. By 6:00 pm, when I had not heard anything, I was able to track down a different phone number for the USAir baggage claim central office. There a real person answered but was unable to tell me anything. Calling that central number again the next morning I was able to find out that my luggage was in Seattle, but they didn't know where. The central office happens to be in Central America and the people there barely speak English. They have no phone contact with the US airports, just a computer to look things up on. So, after many more phone calls to the local Seattle number and no answers, I determined that the only way I would get my luggage was to take the hotel shuttle back to the airport. When I talked to baggage claim face to face in Seattle, they said they never return the phone calls because they don't have time. It took them a while to find my luggage (it had come in via Alaska airline) but they finally did find it. There was no apology for losing it or for the huge hassle for me to get it back. No accountability!!!!
