WAMU
|
WAMU It started when my father died in 2/06. A month after my father died I tried to cash a check from Dain Bosworth,I was a co-signer on his account. It was a large check and I provided all of the necessary documents showing that I had legal authority to cash the check. Most people have heard of Dain Bosworth, but Wamu would have to put a 15 day hold on two thirds of the funds. Bank of America cashed the check immediately. Next, in July, I attempted to remove my dad from the account. It took an hour to sort it out with the CSR, at the end I was told that in two weeks it would be done. Today he is still on the account. If there is a problem removing his name they have made no attempt to contact me. Next, at the end of August, Upon returning from vacation I found the account in complete meltdown. As I opened the mail that piled up while I was out of town the statement from Wamu for the period up to 8/15/06 showed that the account had a balance over $3700.00. dollars. There were no transactions listed during that time and it concurred with the previous two monthly statements. Then I opened several other correspondences from Wamu. They were returned check notices dated 8/38/06, 8/8/06, 8/9/06 and 8/15/06. They all showed an account balance of -$778.53. How could the statement for the period ending 8/15/06 not reflect this issue? When I tried to resolve this issue, on 9/1/06, the CSR said that Social Security had put a hold on the funds and he showed my the dates of the holds. Suspiciously they were the same dates of the electronic deposits made by SSI for three or four months after my father's death. SSI had every right to reclaim these funds, but if, as the CSR stated, these funds had holds put on them as soon as the were deposited why wasn't I notified. There were several monthly statements sent showing no signs of any problems. SSI didn't retrieve the funds until 8/16/07. at the end of a heated debate with the CSR I paid the overdraft amount, including a $27.00 fee, in full. I told the CSR that I was, and have continually been, totally dissatisfied with their performance. I told him I wanted the account closed. He said as soon as the check for the overdraft amount, which now had grown to $805.53, had cleared the account would be closed. Today, I received a notice that the account was overdrawn -$81.00. I want to scream. These are the most incompetent bunch of unconcerned and confused "Bankers" I've ever seen. At every step none of them ever seemed to really understand what they were doing. I have been spreading my story to everyone I come into contact with since 9/1/06. Maybe a 100 people so far. Now I'm livid. I may start protesting outside the Lake City branch. It has an extremely high volume of traffic during rush hour. I don't know how else to get satisfaction. Talking to them does no good. "You" are always the one that doesn't understand. They don't take their customers seriously, regardless of what their commercials say.
