Using a Debit Card at Walmart
|
Using a Debit Card at Walmart I had $230+ dollars in my checking account when I purchased $136+ dollars worth of groceries at Walmart. Their system attempted to preauthorize double the amount, which caused my transaction to decline. I had to put stuff back, not knowing why at the time, to get down to (my purchase x2 < $230.00) which went through at $104.66
That night I had some other transactions come through which caused me to be charged $27 for NSF.
I had to call my bank and have them manually take the hold off my money.
I called Walmart and they put me through to a recording that admitted they were having a problem with the debit network double authorizing transactions. When I got to a person, they told me it was my fault for running the card multiple times.
I went round and round for a few mintues trying to explain that if they hadn't authorized my card for double the amount, it wouldn't have been "multiple" times. I got tired of trying to get my $27.00 back and told them I would shop elsewhere.
It's hard enough to provide for my family, without Walmart costing me money and then giving me the run around.
