stamps.com risk-free trial offer Stamps.com - Internet Postage Company - misleading advertising and a poor customer service response Signed up for risk-free one-month trial offer. At which I canceled exactly one month to the day and they insisted on payment for going OVER the month. I never used the service, except to print $5 of postage (their misleading ad stated $25 of free postage at sign up). I returned the scale within two weeks and still have not received my refund. The scale was received Sept 8, 2006 - a week ago. They also tried to charge me for a second month of usage (2-3 days?) which they agreed to remove from my billing statement. Their risk-free offer is misleading. I am shocked that upon my phone call to cancel the service, I was actually told I owed them $31 for not using their services. I called exactly one month after I opened the account - technically, I should have one more day to cancel since I opened it after close of business on 8/14/06. But they argue that since they are in CA and I am in MD, that is not a valid argument. My service should begin according to where I live, not where the company is located. They should not advertise "a month free" -- instead they should say "28 days" since that would be more in tune to their unpublished rule. I think their level of customer service is lacking for an Internet company.
