jewelsmall Among the worst web-based businesses I have ever had the misfortune to encounter is jewelsmall (www.jewelsmall,com). They are sleazy and dishonest, and unreliable. I ordered an ultrasonic cleaner from them. First they told me they didn't have the model I had ordered but could sell me something similar at twice the price. I declined. Then, lo and behold, they did have the original product and would send it "immediately." I agreed to pay $17 for 3 day shipping. In 10 days the product hadn't come so I contacted them again. All I got back was a "product shipped" form that didn't clarify the situation at all. Shortly thereafter I filed a ""disputed charge" with my credit card company. This resulted, among other things, in a call from someone at jewelsmall who, after discussing the situation with me, assured me that they would not contest the disputed charge. But a month or so later, the credit card company wrote that on the basis of information provided by jewelsmall (information that jewelsmall had discussed with me when they called) they were denying my request to cancel the charge. In further correspondence, jewelsmall was rude and intransigent, completely unwilling to take any responsibility for their part in the debacle. I am out $163 and never got anything but trouble for it, and they are not willing even to refund the shipping charges! "We did what we had to," they stated in an email. Clearly, they are not willing to do more than the barest minimum for their customers, not even to honoring what they themselves have said they would do. There is nothing they are selling that anyone could need badly enough to make it worthwhile to do business with these creeps.
