Verizon online DSL & phone VERIZON DSL VICTIM People, do not let this happen to you, your friends, or family. Recommendation : DO NOT GET VERIZON DSL July, 2006: I called Verizon to get home phone service. The told me that they will get me the phone connection on July 21st, 2006. But I didn't get the dial tone till July 28th. I have to make sevaral phone calls to Verizon to check the line and finally send some one home to fix the service. For all the trouble it caused me all they could do is refund just 1 week of service money. Verizon DSL: When I ordered phone, they asked me to try Verizon DSL for 1 month for free and if I decide to continue with the service I will get in to a contract for 1 year. If I decide to cancel there will be no charge and all the charges for DSL modem will be refunded. On the last day of the trail period I called Verizon to cancel. They asked me the reason for cancellation. I told them I got comcast with higher speed for lesser price 19.99 for 6 months. They asked me to try the DSL for another month for free and if I cancel before the end of the trail period there will be no charge for the DSL. Customer service also told me that during this time I can compare the service between DSL and Comcast. I called Verizon to cancel the DSL service well before the extened trail period. Guess what they told me, they said that if I have to cancel the DSL service I have to pay $70 for breaking the contract. I told them that I got an extened trail period. But the customer service told me that I will not be charged for the DSL service during the extended trail period, but I will be charged for breaking the contract. I have been fooled. Since they cheated me I decided not to continue with them and cancelled the service anyway. Now I am going to be charged for breaking the contract. If anybody is in my situation please give me good suggestion how to prove that I am being cheated by Verizon. When Verizon gave me the offer of 1 month extended trail period, they didn't mention anything about the contract breakage. I hope they record all my conversation with them. I also have the confirmation number for the extened trail period. Please help me with some valuable suggestions on how to fight them. Thanks.
