Renewal replacement windows by Anderson

Renewal replacement windows by Anderson

We had almost $20,000 of Renewal by Anderson windows installed in our home. The crew does put down a red carpet as they enter your home, however they were contracted to replace any rotten wood, failed to do that and covered the rotted wood and charged to cover the rot. Quite by accident another carpentry team had to uncover a sill and found the cover up!

The company has failed to refund the cost of correction.

The Woodwright is the official replacement window for Andersen. It can be purchased at any retail outlet that sells Andersen. Renewal by Andersen is a seperate company that is owned by Andersen. It is marketed thru privately owned franchises that have protected territories. An RBA window can only be installed by the franchise while The Woodwright can be installed by anyone. The RBA is a Fibrex (vinyl) window while The Woodwright is a wood frame with vinyl claded to the outside for weather protection. Because of the way they are marketed, The Woodwright is half the cost of RBA. Because of the way they are made, The Woodwright is stronger and more attractive than RBA. Stronger, more attractive and half the cost - The Woodwright is the way to go.

We thought we were getting the very best with Renewal by Anderson. What a mistake... In their first winter, nearly all windows leak cold air apparently due to improper installation. As a matter of fact, the 25-year-old windows which were replaced were better than what we have now. Just seeing the sloppy installation of the aluminum covering the Renewal by Anderson team put over the existing outside window trim has been enough to convince visitors not to use this company. I don't know that ANY replacement window companies are better, but my recommendation to those looking for new windows is to steer well clear of "Renewal by Anderson."

I had the same problem. All they do is cover up the rotten wood. Did not even insulate the windows correctly. When I called to complain to Anderson, told me it was not their problem, but to deal with Renewal. Anderson Did not stand behind their product. I used a company in MD, they refused to repair the correct way & they took me to court. I in turn found someone to back my problem, but it was hard & expensive to find this great guy that knew a lot about construction. I won, a reduction in payment, but as much as they charge, they still made money off me. It was hard to find someone to help me to write up a report.
