Kevin Provencal - Worst Wedding Officiate Ever

Kevin Provencal officiated our wedding earlier this year and as the old adage says, something always goes wrong on your wedding day. We asked him to show up wearing the traditional minister’s cloak but he showed up in a suit.

If that was the only problem, I wouldn’t be this upset. That was only the beginning. Within 30 seconds of him starting the service, I knew that we had made a terrible mistake. For one, he spoke in such a hushed tone that no one outside of the wedding party could hear a word that he was saying. When I said my vows, it was probably a good 30 decibels above his level. Ditto for my wife.

To make matters worse, I was painfully aware of the fact that he had never read our service prior to arriving. There was no flow to his delivery and there were huge gaps when he turned the page. I think a 13 year old could have done a better job than he did.

In retrospect, hiring a wedding officiate via the internet instead of through referral is asking for trouble. At the very least, you should ask for a video of the person’s work. I still have fond memories of my wedding day but the ceremony isn’t one of them. If I can prevent one bride from hiring this guy, I have done my job.
